Term 4 Week 4

Time has been flying past faster than an jet.. I can't believe it literally! Already Term 4 when I could clearly remember the first day of this year. What have I been up to this week? This week we did something huge.. It is the one and only, phone book bagging :) Basically you just put a book inside a bag. Yep ;-; It was interesting though, each and everyone of us thought of it as a competition and built up castles and made up bagging and stacking teams. It was a enjoyable task. I also had my Hamilton Boys' High testing this Friday, and I can assure you it was not as easy as I thought it would be. I felt bad that I didn't finish any one of the tests even though they weren't designed to be finished. The tests were: Mathematics, Reading, Reasoning, English and Spelling. The spelling was easy peasy doctor pe... Never mind. While at the school I met many of my past friends which was nice catching up with. Next week there will be many more exciting things happening!

Week 1 Term 4

This is the first week of Term 4.. Yay! Or not. Supposedly this week was supposed to be the first week to my Term 4 school life, but what happened? Well, I was kind of sick. Not normally sick, but really sick. I felt so bad it was like torture, but I had to bear it. So what has happened in my life? Well, since there is no school, I'll talk about this week at home. Its pretty lame if I tell you. 75% is just sleeping and the other 25% is staring outside like a wooden stick. During Saturday I had to help setup for a big wedding for my Aunty. At that time I was feeling a bit better, which I am THANKFUL for :3 First, we had to setup a shade area for the family members to sit under. We used 5 different big pieces of material and sewed them together into a really big cover. We nailed the first top right corner of the cover into a wooden log hammered into the ground. It was pain in the head since the wind was super strong at the moment. My first job was to stop the other side of the cover so the wind doesn't blow it away. Since the sun was up, and I was tired, why not take a nap on the cover? Hmpm.. (chuckles silently) that wasn't the best idea I've thought of. Sadly the wind was coming at 43 kmph and it slingshot me right over the mat. Even though I was lucky enough I didn't hit my head on the tree, I can't lie that it felt like a pirate ship ride at a theme park. Yeah.. Someone also decided to hammer his own finger, who was it? Meh, I'm not sure(ermm).. The wedding was on Sunday. I took care of the helium balloons, and what do you expect of me? I hope you see this coming, I let my future uncle breath in helium. His face didn't match the sound, it was like a gorilla speaking like a bird. It wasn't pleasant, I can assure you that! Also, one helium balloon exploded while in the pump.. :/ I know you don't know what it felt being there, but go to youtube and search up: Nuclear Bomb Detination and you'll see. The wedding turned out fine, and I had some cake. Overall it was quite a tiring experience. Lets see what happens next week :)

Week 9 Term 2

We didn't have an assembly this week cause we had science fair on. For our A.L.C time today, instead of Volleyball we had Soccer. We were split into two teams, picked by Will and Caitlyn. Mrs Crowe purposely did this because she wanted to see if they could include others, not just pick the best players. Unfortunately they didn't receive a signature but they did for showing respect by switching with subs every few minutes. The game started quite good and some people got some really good goals. It was an amazing game. Tuesday and Wednesday I was away because I was at a funeral and the next day I was sick, so I have no exact clue of what we did. Thursday afternoon we had the Belmont teams play their game. The games were soccer, cross country, year 7 netball, year 8 netball, basketball, table tennis and chess. Overall we won the game 6-5 to Te Awamutu. I am looking forward to next week!

Week 8 Term 2

Science Fair projects for our school ends this week on Friday, and we did quite a few peer assessments. Some of the projects were interesting and some were quite complex. You could easily tell who has actually put thought into their science fair project. This weeks volleyball was quite interesting as we were learning to include others in volleyball and teaching them. We were divided into two groups, one at the further end of the court from the door and one at the middle court. I had been put into the middle court with many others. We started playing the game and we all had the chance to learn to include others. When I see someone hit the ball improperly, I would teach them the correct way. Within thirty minutes of the game, the people who were less conformable playing improved quite a lot. It was a very good experience, and I can't wait till next time we play volleyball. This Friday was quite interesting as I had an entire day planned full of events. In the second block we had our last session of tech arts where we did our dance. Hayden and I wanted to add something fresh to this dance so we did the running man challenge, so that was that. At lunch time I went and had a look at Mrs Shaw's IPhone6s as she couldn't get it working. I couldn't do anything so I tried to force her Iphone to restart. Waalaa, it worked! I set everything up for her and showed her the fingerprint login function. She was pretty happy that she has a phone to use in the weekends. That afternoon for Friday Sport I did Table Tennis. Even though I wasn't good at it I could still say I improved ;) I was able to beat most people unless they are hardcore players... Next week is week nine, and it is close to the end of the term!

Week 7 Term 2

This week I have a very exciting post to talk about! This Thursday evening I went to a competition held at my school called the EPro8 Challenge. The name stands for Electronics Problem Solving Challenge. We have entered four different teams of four people which most of them are from room 3 (cause were amazing), except for one person... Bla. Bla. Blake .-. He was in my team with two others, Kaleb and Ben. Other teams had other people which I couldn't remember clearly so lets skip to the competition now. The event started at 6 o'clock with 15 minutes for the judge to talk us through the things we have. I had really big faith in our team and I trusted them a lot. There was a live countdown and live points scoreboard on a big screen TV which was a bit.. I'm not sure how to explain the feeling but I was kind of nervous. At the 10 second countdown we raced towards our station to read the design brief. There were three different things we could make, a crane, a swing or a mars rover. Which did we choose? Obviously the mars rover cause it really did sound quite cool. Straight on we started building the frame. The good thing about our team is that each person is good at one thing, and all four of us combined turns us into mini Einsteins. I am good with Electronics and little bit of everything, Kaleb is good at gears and motors, Blake is good at practically a bit of everything and Ben is good at calculating correctly. I would say we did a good job. We decided to work in parts of two for the same goal, also known as teamwork. First we put the frame together, and then the wheels, motors, gears and electronics. I had to re-wire a dozens of times in order for the rover to work. I was just about to give up when everyone cheered me on and saying that I can do this. I happily accepted and tried again. With my luck this time, I figured the problem out which changed us from third place to whooping first equal place. Want to hear something cooler? Only two out of all the teams have successfully done this so woohoo :) I cannot wait till the semi-finals in 17 days.

Week 6 Term 2

This week we only had four days since it was queen's birthday on Monday. The TV we fitted on last Thursday is now in use for the maths and in the morning the notices. In tech arts this week we did a bit of piano, a bit of guitar and a bit of drumming. Friday's lesson was a bit different as we had Mrs Germann as the teacher while Ms Motes was away. We had to learn a song called london bridge, and we used it to assess how much we improved in the piano. I was the only to accomplish it with two hands because the others just mucked around. I just want to shout out to Jared as he kept on trying to play the song and it sounded amazing although he didn't have the time to show Mrs Germann. You definitely never gave up! Onto the next topic, Japanese this week was quite interesting really. We learnt japanese calligraphy. Japanese calligraphy is where you use a brush and black ink to write Kanji words. Not to brag, but I was quite good at it cause i've done it before :) The rules are simple, up to down and left to right. All words have their own exact way of writing it. Before writing calligraphy, you need to have first straighten your back, calm your mind and breath in.... and out. I was actually so good at it, I fell asleep not. Our first word was 友. This 友 word means friend. Compared to Traditional Chinese, it is a little bit different. In japanese you can just use 友 as friend, but in T Chinese its 朋友. Both means the same, but I just wanted to make it clear to you guys so you know .-. Next I want to talk about maths. Within four days I finished three different learning intentions and reflections. Within the three I also finished a learning intention and reflection within 2 minutes and 34 seconds. You know, there was only 5 questions so yeh. This also proves that if I can do it, you all can. People that are way behind in maths, you can do it! I sincerely hope you will catch up. Further on, I have been working on my Science Fair project. I really enjoyed finding the problem with my design, and thinking of thousands of solutions for them. Next Thursday I will meet the HRV Community Manager to talk about my project. Stay tuned for more information on the progress. Mrs Crowe assigned us a new task which was a book review. This has to be done by week 10, which is more than decades(slight exaggeration here). My book review is probably going to be about a book called Metawars. Metawars is about a child called Jonan, and another guy called uhmm.. Whatever his name was who made a virtual world where people could live inside there. The elders who have diseases or cancer can also stay in there without dieing. The interesting part was wondering about out of the millennials and guardians, who was actually the protagonist. Alright, this is all the time I have for this blog post and below is a Japanese Calligraphy art. Enjoy and go grab a coffee or tea and have a good one!
Oops, this is Korean Calligraphy art, but it will do :)
