Week 1 Term 3

This week has started pretty well. We are focusing on persuasive writing this week. We learnt all about the features of a persuasive writing. Emotive Language, third-person narrative, connectives, modality, repetition, rhetorical questions and statement of appeal. For maths this term we are focusing on algebra. We are finding the repeating patterns. Here is an example: 1,2,4,8,18. The rule for this pattern is: add the first number with second to create the third number. For computer coding, Bert and I have been teaching the students using Scratch. Scratch is a interactive, GUI based programming software built for all platforms. Scratch lets you think, create and have amazing imaginations. I recommend this if you have just started to learn about programming. For some students that are going well with scratch, we are teaching them about making scratch interacting with the computer. For example, you press a button called browser, it asks you for a password and when you enter the correct password, it opens a simple browser. With that, students can learn the concepts of programming, After basics are learnt, you start to actually program in real programming languages. There are some very simple languages like HTML, Python and Javascript. These are the language we will teach them when they get to that point.
