Term 1 Week 10
This week has gone bye fast with many fascinating activities going on. On Monday assembly we managed to do everything clean and correctly without making too many dirty mistakes. This means that we got everything sorted and ready before the assembly which is crucial as Mr. McCabe has a high standard for the Head-Student. We also had two science tech-arts lesson this week. For one of them we learnt about different atoms and how they are made. We made soap for that lesson. Basically we just cut some soap off from a larger soap and placed it inside a glass beaker with a few drops of custom food coloring. After that we placed it on top of a beaker and waited patiently for the soap to turn liquid. Lastly we poured the liquid soap into a cake shaped thing(I don't know what its called). The lesson on Friday was even more wacky. We meed putty. The recipe for this is a bit more complex, but it will turn out easy once you get the hang of it. First off, we pour 100 mls of wood glue into a large beaker and add in another 100 mls of hot water with a few drops of food coloring. After doing that it will create a reaction with the glue and the water which the glue turns out like a blob. It was definitely fun to play with but is quite dangerous at the same time! On Thursday leadership day was on, and I was lucky enough to participate in this event. There were many activities in this event and its main goal is to improve our leadership skills. The theme for this year is Olympic games. There were a few we heard of but some we haven't. My favorite activity was Pentathlon. Pentathlon is where there is 5 different activities that you have to complete one by one. The first one was golf. We needed to get three golf balls into the hoop before the next player can do there activity. The third person needs to wait for the second person to finish before they can start and so on until the last activity which is to finish a puzzle. Overall it was a great opportunity for the leaders at Te Awamutu Intermediate to grow their leadership skills.
